ATTUNE
A virtual 12-week small group healing experience integrating music, neuroscience, & somatic practice
[Registration opening for summer listening sessions soon]
Life feels overwhelming right now.
The constant flood of world events makes it hard to keep up, to pause, to breathe. And that’s on top of the weight of whatever is going on in your personal life, how your mind and body are feeling.

Our nervous systems are stretched thin, and the reality is, we don’t know when relief will come.
The urgency of everything happening may make you feel like you need to stay engaged, alert, and constantly moving. But now, more than ever, slowing down and caring for ourselves is essential.
We need the capacity to face this moment. That includes being able to recognize and respond to our bodies' needs, being able to discern safety from danger, and being able to find safety and power in turning toward each other.

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a 5-hour listening therapy designed to help return the nervous system to a state of safety so you can feel safer in your body, and more connected to yourself, others, and the world around you.
How does the SSP work and what makes it so great?

The nervous system is constantly scanning your environment, your interactions with other people, and your internal experience for cues of safety. This automatic process, known as neuroception, happens beneath your awareness, influencing whether you feel safe or in danger.

However, past trauma, chronic stress, or even the way you process information can distort these signals. This can make it difficult to feel safe in relationships or fully connect with others, even when no real threat is present.

The SSP uses specially filtered music to send cues of safety to your nervous system to help you more accurately discern safety from danger. The music stimulates the vagus nerve and engages the neurological structures that support connection.
Think of it like a training session or a massage for your nervous system - giving it the TLC it needs and deserves from all the hard work it does to keep you going. It is a simple and accessible path to healing, especially when thinking or talking about things feels overwhelming or unsupportive.
The SSP is an evidence-based therapy, proven to reduce symptoms and support the resiliency of people seeking support for:
-
Depression and anxiety
-
Trauma
-
Autism
-
ADHD
-
Sensory processing differences
-
Learning difficulties
-
And more
The added benefits of participating in ATTUNE
To attune means to be aware and responsive to your (or someone else's) inner world.
ATTUNE is a group experience that will help you learn skills and build capacity to attune to yourself and others. Over the course of 12 weeks you will:
Receive the benefits of the SSP
Participants often report responding to conflict and difficult situations in ways that feel better instead of reacting or getting stuck in them, feeling more attuned to and in control of their emotions, and more at ease engaging with others. Imagine feeling more composed, even through difficulty.
Learn how to support your nervous system in different states
Through the additional nervous system education and somatic exercises I teach you, you’ll have a map of your own nervous system and know what to do when you feel triggered or unsafe. Imagine feeling more at home in your body, more alive, and more present.
Expand your capacity for satisfying connection
Trauma, stress, and neurological differences can make it hard to relate to others with ease. The SSP is designed to support the neurological structures that underpin connection. Imagine feeling more open in your interactions with others.
Benefit from co-regulation with myself & your group mates
The group experience allows you to connect with other people on a similar journey and enjoy the consistency of seeing the same folks each week. Doing this work together is a way to practice the type of connection we want to experience in the rest of our lives.
Feel more prepared to meet this moment
Making it through these hard times will require us to turn towards each other and work together. Through the SSP and ATTUNE you can feel more equipped to connect with others, collaborate, and move through chaos and conflict without turning away from one another.
What to Expect Each Week
You can treat it like a weekly self-care ritual. Make your tea, light a candle or incense, and take your pick of different exercises to help you attune to your body’s needs and preferences.

During the first session we will spend time getting to know one another, getting set up for your first listening session, and I’ll also teach you some nervous system basics to help you start mapping out your own nervous system.
The following sessions we will begin with a grounding practice, spend a bit of time checking-in and connecting, and then listen to the SSP in three 10-minute increments, checking in between each listening session.
During those check-ins I may offer suggestions to help adjust your experience so that your body can fully digest what it’s receiving. That might mean listening for a shorter or longer amount of time, or switching your listening device.
In the last session, we’ll spend time processing the experience and addressing any final needs you might have around nervous system support.

Sliding Scale Rates
The full cost of ATTUNE is $950, but I offer a sliding scale from $650 to $1050, which works out to between $36 and $58/hr depending on where you fall on the scale.

You may choose where you fall on the sliding scale. I don’t ask for proof, I trust you to select the rate that falls within your means. If you can afford to pay more, please do - this helps support others who need a lower rate. If you need the lower rates, great! That’s why they exist.

You may pay in full or pay over 3 monthly payments.
This short questionnaire can help you determine your investment:

Signs ATTUNE might be right for you:
-
You are drawn to getting to know yourself
-
You long for opportunities to heal in community
-
You are looking for healing at the nervous system level
-
You're a sensitive soul who struggles with things that seem easier for others, like getting enough sleep or movement, keeping up with your responsibilities, or calming your mind
-
You have sensory differences or chronic pain
-
You want to be present and engaged with the world in a way that feels sustainable
-
You have some basic skills in taking care of yourself should you feel overwhelmed during our sessions
ATTUNE might not be the best fit if:
-
You're looking for more of a group talk therapy vibe - We will talk and process, but the focus is on the listening.
-
You can't attend most of the sessions - This is relational work and half of the impact is doing it together [Session 1 & 2 are especially important!]
-
You aren't sure if it will feel emotionally safe for your body - you can always schedule a consultation with me first to determine if this group is right for you.
-
You're looking for a quick fix - This SSP group is long and spacious. And, these are skills and resources that will continue to grow beyond our sessions.

Answers to FAQs
What do I need in order to participate?

You will need:
- A consistent internet connection since we meet on Zoom
- an iPhone or Android smartphone so you can download the Unyte app
- Over-the-ear headphones (not on-the-ear; not ear buds)
- Any supportive tools nearby, which I'll share more about in the welcome materials

Are there any prerequisites?

To make the most of this program and to ensure a safe and supportive experience for everyone, it is recommended that participants have some level of stability and access to support. While we will be supporting your nervous system to orient toward safety, my ability to support everyone individually in a group container is limited. If you aren't sure if ATTUNE is right for you, please feel free to reach out directly to me (raina@roottorisesomatics.com). I also offer SSP and other services 1:1, which might be a better fit for some.

Is there anyone who shouldn't do the SSP?

The SSP is not recommended for people who:
- Are experiencing active psychosis, are currently on any anti-psychotic medications, or have recent psychiatric hospitalizations
- Have active or uncontrolled seizures, active tinnitus, or who are actively suicidal

12-weeks is a lot! What if I have to miss a week?

That's ok! I can provide options for independent listening as long as you can make most sessions. It's most important that you attend session #1, #2 and #12 (the last session).

Do I need to be on camera?

I will ask that we all have our cameras turned on so that we can co-regulate and so that I can adequately track everyones needs, but there will be times when you are more than welcome to be off camera so that you don't feel too "perceived" :)

How many people will be in each group?

6 people maximum. The program will not run if there are less than 4 participants per group.
